Toiletpaper is a biannual magazine co-founded in 2010 by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan and photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari. Blending the language of commercial photography with détourned narrative tableaus and surrealist imagery, the magazine creates a publication that is, in itself, a work of art. Through its accessible format and wide distribution, Toiletpaper pushes the boundaries of the contemporary art economy.
Issue 18 was produced with the support of TIM. Entirely devoid of text, the magazine relies on images, each born from an idea — often simple — which, through a complex orchestration of people, become the materialization of the artists' mental flashes. Since its first issue, published in June 2010, Toiletpaper has built a universe of ambiguous narratives and deliberately disturbing imagery.
